Day of Action: Support the Safe Chemicals Act!

SC timeline

With over 80,000 untested chemicals in our everyday products, and cancer, learning disability rates skyrocketing, our chemical management system is broken.

In fact, it hasn’t been updated in more than 30 years. Seriously. While scientists discover more connections between certain chemicals and cancer rates. While autism rates go through the roof. While girls and increasingly now, boys, are entering puberty younger and younger. While more and more women die of breast cancer at younger and younger ages. While we learn that low levels of BPA and lead can be more harmful than we ever thought possible.

No action.

We hear that chemicals are “of concern” in isolation. But no one is looking at an actual lifestyle of multiple exposures.  All the while, the chemical lobby spends millions to make sure they can continually use any chemicals they want in food and products, no matter what scientists are saying.

What is your senator, representative, or presidential candidate doing to protect families from toxic chemicals?

Today is the day to ask. Today, we are partnering with our friends at Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families to take action. It is as simple as this.

On twitter?  Try these:

Sample tweets to candidates (be sure to send to all candidates for a particular race):

Hi @CandidateZ I’m concerned about the chemical lobby spending $ – Please stand with our families, NOT Big Chemical! @SaferChemicals

Hi @CandidateX I’m concerned about toxic chemicals in consumer products & stand w/ #KidsNotChemicals. Please support @SaferChemicals!

Use this, or tweak it, on Facebook.

Take action in your state. Together, on this blog action day for Safer Chemicals, we can let the chemical lobby, and our politicians know we aren’t going to stand for this anymore.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
